Finmere FC faced their first league game of the season on Saturday, against Broughton North Newington in Division 1.
The Fins continued their dominate pre-season, with a strong performance and a well fought result against an up and coming Broughton North Newington side.
0-0 at half time, although The Fins had many opportunities through Niall Jeacock, Dickie Proctor.
Some enforced changes at half time, led to Jamie Layton-Hill switching to right back, who controlled the on coming forwards with ease and linking up well with Mark Hobbs down the right flank.
It was from a quick free kick, taken by Rob Buchan, that found Jeyhan Patel down the left wing, as Jeyhan was edging closer to the 18 yard box, he pulled back, stopping him going through on goal.
A free kick awarded and Mark Hobbs scored a superbly struck freekick, that the keeper couldn’t keep hold of.
The Fins were in control of the majority of the game and the 2nd goal came through a long goal kick from Alan Nicholls where Jack Cain and Dickie Proctor combined with them linking up together, a neat lay off from Dickie Proctor allowed Jack Cain to be clear through on goal and seal the victory for the Fins.
An incredible team performance all over the pitch.
MoM – Rob Buchan, controlled play from the back, with superb organisation and strong tackling.
Great result and a fantastic start to the season.
Next Saturday Finmere FC have the 1st team away to Kings Sutton with the Ressies hosting Kingsmere Reserves at the Finmere Playing Fields.…….. COYF!!
