Yesterday we traveled the short distance to kings Sutton F.C. after last weekends win we looked to maintain the high spirts in the team. The game started at a high pace with kings Sutton’s strikers linking up well to cause us some problems on the break, and from a resulting corner kings Sutton took the lead after a lucky deflection from a clearance.

After that the game went quiet with no side making any real chances. After half time finmere came out and kicked it up a few gears, after dominating the possession and making some good chances we equalised from the free kick specialist Mark Hobbs with a stunning free kick that will be in the hat for goal of the season.

5 minutes later we took the lead through substitute dan slade who coolie slotted the ball home after a nice 1-2 with Mark Hobbs. Kings Sutton’s started to press to try and fine a equaliser and that left gaps for Mark Hobbs to run clear and make it 3-1 to Finmere with 10 minutes remaining, again Kings Sutton pressed to try and get something from the game and that with 5 minutes remaining they got a free kick on the edge of the area and the took full advantage to make it 3-2. The next 5 minutes seemed like 20, with some first class defending we saw the game out with a 3-2 win. Every Finmere player put 100% for the full 90 with stand out performances from Rob b and Dan h at cb the returning out of position Les at lb, Rob H in at cm never stopped running and Mark h with 2 goals and a assist.

Man of the match goes to Dickie who was everywhere, linking up well with both defence and attack.

Next weekend we have to games finmere first travel to Wroxton firsts and the reserves travel to Steeple Aston. Let’s keep the momentum going and bring home the points for both teams.
